EXAMINATIONS
Ballet, Tap, Modern and Lamda Examinations are held three times a year, usually once each term. The teachers monitor the children’s progress throughout every class and examination days are provided each term for those whom the teacher considers have reached the necessary standard. The School has 100% pass rate for all graded exams in ballet, modern, tap and drama with a very high percentage gaining Honours or Distinction.
SHOWS
All JSTA pupils are invited to participate in our biennial show. In recent years this has been held at The Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking. The show is always in aid of charity and over ther years has raised in excess of £28,000 for those selected charities.
FESTIVALS
Pupils are invited to audition to take part in the Festivals by the Principal. They then have the opportunity to perform in Festivals throughout the year and those that are successful can qualify for Regional and National Finals
JSTA performs at Festivals in Kingston-upon-Thames, Richmond, Woking and Ruislip.
Regional Finals are held at Welwyn Garden City.
National finals are held at The Peacock Theatre, London
Over the years JSTA has shown itself to be amongst the very best schools in the country, winning sections at National Finals in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Song and Dance, Character and National.
In 2011 11 groups were choreographed for Festival entry, all 11 qualified for National Finals where 6 groups won their sections, 3 came 2nd and 1 was awarded Honours.
In 2009 8 of the 12 groups that qualified for the National Finals were placed in the top three in their sections.
In 2007 14 groups were choreographed for Festival entry, all 14 qualified for the National Finals and 11 were placed in the top three in their sections, the other three groups were awarded special commendations.
