Alex Orbell (formerly Risbridger) will be returning to JSTA to teach Adv 1 and Adv 2 Jazz and take on the Role of Festival Co-Ordinator. As Festival Co-ordinator Alex will be responsible for coordinating choreography, Festival entries, rehearsal items and schedules and liaising with parents on all aspects of the Festival programmes.
Alex trained at JSTA from the age of 5 before going on to train full time at Laine Theatre Arts. During her time at Laine Alex taught alongside Julie on a Saturday assisting with Ballet & Modern and teaching Adv 1 & 2 Jazz and then went on to dance and perform professionally for 8 years all over the world and in theatres across the UK and Europe.
In 2017 Alex began teaching on a 3 year degree programme at the MGA Academy in Edinburgh, where she was Head of Jazz and Senior Tutor. Whilst at MGA Alex continued to choreograph for JSTA as well as for MGA where her work was seen at various events such as ‘CYD?’ (Can You Dance?) and ‘Fire up Scotland’ at The SEC Arena, Glasgow.
Recently Alex has assisted the likes of Ricky Jinks, Mandy Montanez, Murray Grant and many others.
Alex is thrilled to be back working on a more permanent basis with JSTA.
