Kingston Festival of Dance – November 2016
Following three weeks of intense rehearsals and competitions for the Kingston Festival of Dance, JSTA have come out on top winning the “Jepson Shield for the Dance School with the Most Points”. Lucy, Maddie and Sam were on hand to collect the shield, shown in the centre of the
picture, together with the other cups awarded to JSTA.
The Awards were presented by the Festival’s Adjudicator Janice Fullman.
Congratulations to all of our students, whose outstanding performances throughout the whole of the festival contributed to winning the shield. Students competed in over 70 sections across the three weekends with many students and Groups adding to their qualifying scores for the Regional Finals in May.
The Festival moved from the usual venue of Esher College to Jubilee High School in Addlestone, and we think you will all agree that the move to the new venue progressed smoothly many thanks to the Festival Organiser, Jane Carter. Jane and her team’s organisation of the whole event was excellent, contributing to the friendly and fun atmosphere throughout.
Esher College provided a good opportunity with the large hall for us to capture the atmosphere of the backstage preparation for the groups, some of the photos from which we have featured here.
All of the senior groups performed for the first time at Kingston all with qualifying results. The U21 Character group won their section with an Outstanding 90 qualifying mark.
As well as winning the Jepson Shield other recipients of Cups at the Awards presentation were: U10 Classical Group, U10 Song & Dance Group, Natalie Henry & Cali Manders – Ballet Duet, Maddie Fairbank – Song & Dance Solo
Samantha Osborne – Tap Solo, Lucy Jones – Tap Solo.
